I recently had the pleasure of filming the wedding of Alexis and Ryan at their beautiful home in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. The location was truly special, not just because of its scenic beauty, but also because of a touching twist of fate β the house once belonged to Ryan’s ancestors. It felt like their story had come full circle.
Alexis & Ryan Arneson’s Wedding In Mt. Horeb, WI
From the moment I arrived, I knew this wedding would be unique. The property was vast, with acres of land that gave a serene and expansive backdrop to the celebration. And then there was the dog β the most perfect farm dog you could imagine, who completely stole the show. This well-behaved pup was everywhere, joining in the bridal party photos, trying to dance with the bride and groom during their first dance, and just being a constant source of joy. He was such a presence that I joked with the couple that half the video would be dedicated to him, and they were totally fine with it.
The day started off a bit challenging with some unexpected rain. It was a bit nerve-wracking as the groomsmen had to run out and buy wood chips to soak up the water in the rented tent to keep the chairs from sinking into the mud. My second shooter and I had to get creative, with him holding an umbrella over my rig to protect the equipment. Despite the rain, we managed to stay on schedule! By the time the ceremony started, the skies had cleared up.
Highlights Throughout The Day
One of the standout moments of the day was the best manβs speech. It was one of the best Iβve ever heard, filled with heartfelt stories and just the right amount of humor. I couldn’t help but gush to Alexis and Ryan about how great the best man speech was at the end of the night. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the first dances looked with the lights reflecting off the wet dance floor. Let’s not forget how amazing their dog was. They appreciated my enthusiasm and made me feel genuinely valued for being part of their special day.
The setting of their own home added a special touch to the wedding. It made everything feel more comfortable and personal. They had the freedom to be as loud as they wanted, stay up as late as they liked, and truly enjoy their day without any restrictions. It was a welcoming, at-home atmosphere that really shone through in every moment.
In the end, it was a day filled with everything you could ask for in a wedding: love, laughter, and a lot of heartwarming moments. Iβm excited to edit the footage and start the video with a segment dedicated to their wonderful dog, setting the tone for what was truly a memorable celebration.
