Hey everyone! Eric from Dolister Films here. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but avoiding these common mistakes can make your day much more enjoyable. Here are three wedding “DON’Ts” you need to know!
1. Don’t Force a “Soft Smile”
You’re not a model, and that’s okay! Be comfortable around your vendors and have fun. Professionals will make you look incredible. I show clip in this video that demonstrates how a TRUE and authentic smile comes across.
2. Don’t Take Extended Family Photos
When was the last time you viewed an extended family photo at someone’s wedding? If you can’t think of one, it might not be that important so spend more time with your guests during cocktail hour. However, if you insist, here are some fun alternatives:
Freeze Frame: Run around the reception and get a photo with everyone at each table. It’s quick and fun! Group Photo: Take a huge group photo with everyone after the first dances. It gets everyone on the dance floor and ready to party.
Photo Booth: Set up a photo booth and visit everyone throughout the night. It’s a fun way to capture moments and frees up time for you to enjoy the cocktail hour.
3. Don’t Underestimate the Wind
Rain is often seen as the traditional wedding bad guy, but wind can be just as problematic. Wind can ruin hair, dresses, and even audio setups. Here’s a story: once, the DJ’s wireless setup was completely ruined due to the wind, turning the ceremony into an unplanned unplugged event. The audio I tried to get was also trashed because of the wind noise.
Solutions:
Alternative Locations: Consider choosing a location that’s sheltered from the wind, like an indoor venue or a garden with plenty of natural windbreaks.
Quick Photos: If you’re set on outdoor photos, be quick about it. Plan to take those shots quickly and then move back inside.
